Taking Silly Long Island Wedding Photos is a Lot of Fun!

Working with a Long Island wedding photographer who enjoys taking silly wedding and engagement photos is so much fun! Hey, it’s your big day, so why not let your wedding photos reflect your fun-loving personality? Feel like pretending you’re in a James Bond film or in an episode of Succession—go for it! Have the urge to showoff your high school drama skills? Why not? Some of the wedding and engagement photos that brides, grooms, and wedding guests look forward to seeing the most, are those spontaneous, wild, and silly photos that were taken on a whim.

The photo of the bride and bridesmaids gathered together inside the Vanderbilt Museum Mansion in Centerport, Long Island was a lot of fun to shoot. For inspiration, they pretended they were in a Sopranos movie poster. One of the reasons I love this wedding photo is that everyone looks like they have a fascinating backstory—especially the bride. Speaking of fascinating backstories—during the ceremony I spotted someone I’d known for years—the bride’s grandmother! It was an extra privilege and delight to be photographing her granddaughter’s wedding! What a surprise!

The photo above of “The Three Amigos,” was a blast. Turns out the groom is a rock singer and musician, and the groomsmen on either side are two of his best friends. So much fun! One thing about taking silly, dramatic, call it what you will, fun photos at weddings—is that it doesn’t take much encouragement to get brides, grooms, and wedding guests to play along. People just want to have fun.

Taking Silly Long Island Engagement Photos is a Lot of Fun, Too!

The photo above of the future bride and groom pretending to be the famous Karate Kid was a blast to photograph. We shot this sunset engagement photo on Westneck Beach on the North Shore of Long Island. After shooting a bunch of engagement photos that you’d normally expect to see, we took some silly ones at the end of the shoot. I was very impressed with their excellent “crane stance” martial art technique.

Huntington Long Island NY beaches are great spots for shooting wedding and engagement photos on Long Island. During the summer months you will need to purchase a daily or seasonal beach sticker/pass to access these photogenic locations.

“The stickers can be obtained from Memorial Day through Labor Day at the Centerport Beach, Little Neck Road, Centerport; Crab Meadow Beach, Waterside Avenue, Northport; Quentin Sammis/West Neck Beach, West Neck Road, Lloyd Harbor. Vehicle registration and driver's license required.”

“Dan Wagner was the best money spent on our wedding. He was nice, professional and did a great job. He took great candid photos—which I love. Not only did we get every picture he took, but the photos were full size and without any writing on them, and they arrived just a few days after we came back home from our honeymoon. We got to choose many pictures for our album. Because everything was digital, he e-mailed me exactly what the layout of the album would be before it was printed, and I was able to make changes. Our album was the nicest I have seen, and everyone who has seen it wishes they had hired him.”
