Long Island Wedding at the Swan Club
One of the prettiest Long Island wedding venues is the Swan Club on the Harbor in Roslyn, NY. Set on seven waterfront acres, the Swan Club features lush gardens, waterfalls, fountains, gazebos, and bridges. Brides and grooms can have their ceremony at outdoor and indoor locations such as the beautiful Wedding Pavilion—a spot I’ve photographed many times. Numerous elegant ballrooms help keep multiple wedding parties separated.
Treating each bride and groom as though they’re the only couple getting married at the Swan Club is something the staff excel at. And they’re not alone—many Long Island wedding venues are adept at segregating multiple weddings. That said, it’s important to get your grounds access preferences sorted out in advance. The Swan Club is happy to work with you—so try not to stress. Naturally, what’s most important is celebrating with friends and family.

Hopefully, there’ll come a day when bride and grooms don’t mind the occasional glimpse of other couples—and some don’t care. But until then, wedding venues will continue overseeing grounds access. My wedding advice is to discuss your photography options, and plan accordingly. This is one reason why it might be in your best interest to take as many photos as possible before the ceremony.
Having the obligatory family, bridal party, and romantic photos out of the way before your ceremony is a genuine relief. Plus people look their best when their hair and makeup are freshest.

Wedding Photography Tips for the Swan Club on the Harbor
Try to schedule an hour or more for photos before your ceremony
Give a list of family group shots to trusted people from the bride and groom’s side to make sure everyone is gathered as needed and photographed
Hold bouquets at bellybutton height
Make sure your florist delivers your flowers early enough for the photos—nothing is more frustrating than having to shoot without them!
Let everyone know what time they should be ready for the pre-wedding photo session
Tour the Swan Club ahead of time and take cellphone photos of your favorite spots—this way you can use your photography time more efficiently—or you can just wing it—there are so many great spots that you can’t go wrong
If you’re having your ceremony in the Wedding Pavilion—exiting afterward can be a bit of a traffic bottleneck—so ask the staff to assist in getting to your cocktail hour or back to your bridal sweet to freshen up—if needed

“I can’t say it enough. Dan Wagner is a GENIUS, so TALENTED, very CREATIVE and a nice person to boot! Dan was one of my favorite vendors. When DH and I initially met with him, we knew within 5 minutes that he would be our photographer. Our personalities clicked immediately. And once we saw his work, we were sold. Dan took almost 900 pictures at our wedding, and I am THRILLED with them! Some of the pictures were so beautiful that they made me cry. I would HIGHLY recommend Dan Wagner to anyone! He exceeded our expectations in every way!”
