Jump for Joy if You're Getting Married on Long Island!
As the legendary Eddie Van Halen might have said if he had gotten married on Long Island, “You might as well jump!” Some of the favorite wedding photos Long Island brides, grooms, and photographers love to shoot are jumping photos. There’s something about expressing joy with a jump that’s universal. So I figured, why not share of few of my favorite Long Island wedding jumping photos on my wedding photography blog.
One of my personal favorite Long Island wedding photos is the one above of the groom, groomsmen, and ring bearers jumping for joy. The guys were smart to beat the heat of a Long Island summer wedding by wearing seersucker material suits. Nothing’s funnier than watching grown men trying to jump in unison. So much fun!
Some of my Best Long Island Wedding Photography Stories Feature Jumping!
In addition to coordinated jumping for joy on your Long Island wedding day, there’s also spontaneous jumping for joy—such as the wedding photo above of the bride after her Georgica Beach, Hamptons Long Island wedding ceremony. I remember her wedding well—especially my discussion with the bride’s father as he practically swore me to being my best Long Island wedding photographer ever. As a father myself, I totally sympathized with his earnestness. During the wedding ceremony it must’ve been 90-degrees. Thankfully, the sea breeze made it bearable. Anyway, at one point the father looked at me with my suit all sandy and wilting in the sun, and he smiled and said, “you’re doing a great job!” Hey, I’m an earnest Long Island wedding photographer.
Here’s another Long Island wedding photo with an interesting backstory. I shot this photo of the bride and groom jumping together on Long Beach, Long Island about a week or two after their wedding. If it rains, or if there’s another issue that limits our Long Island wedding photography options, then I’m always happy to schedule a free wedding photo session at a later date. In this case, the bride had an allergic reaction after using some non-hypoallergenic makeup that resulted in her face swelling up before her wedding ceremony. Despite taking allergy medicine, it took a long time for the swelling to go down. Fortunately the wedding went well, and everyone had a great time.
If you’re admiring the bride’s graceful jumping skills—they’re due in part to her former job as a professional cheerleader with the Dallas Cowboys!

“Dan Wagner was the best money spent on our wedding. He was nice, professional and did a great job. He took great candid photos—which I love. Not only did we get every picture he took, but the photos were full size and without any writing on them, and they arrived just a few days after we came back home from our honeymoon. We got to choose many pictures for our album. Because everything was digital, he e-mailed me exactly what the layout of the album would be before it was printed, and I was able to make changes. Our album was the nicest I have seen, and everyone who has seen it wishes they had hired him.”
