Why Did The Long Island Thatched Cottage Become The Water's Edge?
After the Thatched Cottage’s previous owner and manager were convicted of using forced labor, the wedding venue was redesigned by the current owners and renamed The Water’s Edge. Fortunately, couples were able to have wonderful weddings despite the drama going on behind closed doors at the former Thatched Cottage. Today, the new owners have turned the page of history to a brighter day by treating their staff professionally, and transforming The Water’s Edge into a premier Long Island venue. Kudos and Happy days!
Congratulations to the new owners for greatly improving and reinvigorating the Mill Pond area! One of the cool things about The Water’s Edge waterfront that few wedding couples are aware of, is that the Hamlet of Centerport closes the tidal gates at the Mill Dam Bridge on weekends to keep the Mill Pond water level high, thus ensuring weddings are at their most picturesque, fragrant, and more or less mosquito-free.

“Dan Wagner was the best money spent on our wedding. He was nice, professional and did a great job. He took great candid photos—which I love. Not only did we get every picture he took, but the photos were full size and without any writing on them, and they arrived just a few days after we came back home from our honeymoon. We got to choose many pictures for our album. Because everything was digital, he e-mailed me exactly what the layout of the album would be before it was printed, and I was able to make changes. Our album was the nicest I have seen, and everyone who has seen it wishes they had hired him.”
